How do you feel?
When all odds are against you
When nothing is in your favour
When your dreams turn to dust
When there’s none worthy of your trust
What do you do?
When your life turns upside down
When the sun refuses to shine
When you dread every waking moment
When you’re reluctant to call a crisis hotline
Will you flee or confront your fears?
Do you want to thrive or merely survive?
If you’re not living the life you want
Is there any point in being alive?

Well done. I spent 17 years fearful with only fleeting moments of hope for the future. Then the universe poured some cold water over my head, moved some clouds so so I could see sun and something clicked. I am finally thriving. Each and every day feels so amazing, it’s as if I was recreated. The long periods of doubt and pain are gone. I never thought that would happen, but it’s been 2 years of clarity. I am keeping it.

This is a great piece of writing. Excellent. Love the quotes too, most especially about doing something remarkable.
Excellent!

Agree with this whole piece…well done…it is the trying or fighting to be remarkable…remarkable relative to our own self…what we would’ve been if we didn’t try or fight…that makes life worth living for me. Depression for me…and I have only recently experienced it in the last few years…is simply a means of telling u to make some changes…of course people then fill their bodies up with happy pills and keep doing what they were doing…the pain is there for a reason…

Tincup, I appreciate your view, yet do jarr at the word ‘happy pills’. Psychiatric drugs aren’t happy pills – they are chemicals which address chemical imbalances in the brain, and those chemicals which people like you seem to have just fine, are not only lacking in others, but something more sinister plays – negative, negative, horror thoughts and feelings overcome you. You don’t succumb to the negative: it overcomes you.
Happy pills would be something like Ecstasy or Heroin, I’d say.
Cheers, N’n.
