Happy Mother’s day in advance to all the wonderful mommies out there !!
The last picture in the photo album
Takes me back to my early formative years
Memories come flooding back
My wandering mind has a flashback
I remember saying all the things
I shouldn’t have
Spiteful words
Filled with rancour
Spat out curtly
My mother, a victim of my rage
Her distress caused no sorrow
I was engulfed by the dark side of teenage
The more she tried
The more I rebelled
There was turmoil in her mind
While mine wreaked havoc and was undeniably unkind
Freedom was not enough
Nothing could straighten me out
I abhorred the dull routine of existence
Breaking curfew, constant tantrums and brazen acts
Only widened the distance
I shudder at the thought
Of how reckless I was
Even the sincerest apologies
Won’t lessen the pain I’d caused
But a mother’s heart can never hold grudges
She’s still the same old loving and forgiving woman
I haven’t grown any wiser
Although she’s made me a better human

Oh yes… we’ve all been spoilt brats and not cherised those moments enough! Some of us have time to rectify this, but others not. A lovely peace and respect to all the wonderful mother’s out there. You will find this piece a very interesting to read from a study for the National Geographic: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2011/10/teenage-brains/dobbs-text

Haha. Teenagers have the most complex brains. They’re capable of doing even the most ballsiest thing in the world.

at 12 I hitch -hiked to Canada…byt way of New Mexico, Colorado, Washington …(scenic tour)14 i was on my way to Woodstock…no didn’t make it, got picked up for running away(again) went to a school for chldren with problems(brats, but not bad enough for reform school)
my mom finally said my curfew was one hour before sunup when she got up for work..
I very rarily left the house after that LOLs…
she said her only revenge would be to live with me when my daughter was 16 …she did, and just smiled….
your mother understands, even if she never did any of what you did…
great writing…love the pics!
Take care…

My mum was sent to hostel at the age of 12 and she remained there till she graduated. She herself told me the mischievous things she did as a teenager. Let’s not talk about the no. of boyfriends she had. :P
I’m so happy to see your frank outlook about teenage life and I’m sure your daughter must be one hell of a girl !

I can’t imagine being the person I’m right now without my mother’s guidance and love. Our petty squabbles only strengthened the bond ! I’m sure there were moments when all she wanted to do was strangle me but she just couldn’t stay mad at me. Hehe.
