My fingers linger over the keyboard
Lips move in silent prayer
Stomach growls and groans
Growing queasier by the second
Never before has this happened
Rib cage vibrates with every palpitation
Clammy fingers tremble
Warm beads of sweat
Trickle through my temple
Down my cheek
I hear questions being asked in the distance
My throat feels parched, I cannot speak
Mind wills me to type
Those seven cursed digits
That will reveal the result of a yearlong drudgery
And just as I look at the screen
My alarm goes off
Waking me up at the climax of my dream
And suspense lingers in the air. .
